We have enjoyed a terrific holiday (our first time abroad). The countryside is breathtaking with panoramic views everywhere we have been.
Thank you for the use of your pretty house. The painted ceilings are very pretty.
The locals are friendly, particularly the owner of the supermarket, who dispenses coffee after the shopping.
We sleep longer because it is so dark with the shutters closed.
I love the giant fir cones, poppies and vast array of wild flowers.
We have also experienced new foods and had enough units of wine for the next 3 months - lovely!

17th - 24th May 2008 - Bridgitte and John, Australia

Return cycling trip to the area and were greeting with a cold, wet change in the weather! Still beautiful countryside and villages in any weather I say!
Cought the time trial day of Giro d'Italia at Urbino. Amazing atmosphere being trackside at such a world famous event.
Pasta making course with six of us shoe-horned into the small kitchen was great fun and had us very well fed at the end
Lovely to spend the week in the serenity of Monterchi (apart from dogs barking, bells ringing, shutters closing and roosters crowing!)

29th March - 15th April 2008 - Rob and Jane, Norfolk

Have been able to lose oneself in order to find again. Time has had no meaning this week; long lie-ins, up when we want, exhilerating walks in the locality. Visits to Gubbio (amphitheatre, medieval streets), Sansepolcro; and Lippiano and Citterna as part of the walks.
Privileged to see otter and 2 young, snake, goldfinches, buzzards and first swallows.
Great meal at Il Postale (michelin star)...certainly 'che bello). Da Algheri (Anghiari) also recommended
Peaceful and tranquil village...Fra Pacifico a must for a beer in the sunshine...watch the world go by...

We couldn't have chosen a lovelier place to stay.  We have had a fantastic week exploring this delightful part of Italy.

We've spent many lazy afternoons sat in cafes in various nearby towns and cities, just watching the world go by.  After just one day here we found that we had completely unwound.  The weather has been perfect - September seems an ideal time to visit this part of Italy.

The house itself is well stocked with everything we needed.  Thank you Rachael and David for letting us stay in your home.

31st August - 8th September 2007, Jackie and Scott, Leicestershire

We have had the most relaxing, enjoyable holiday.  It was great to be living amongst the locals - they have all been so friendly and welcoming.

22nd - 29th August 2007, Alex and Sue, London

This place will always be special to us, particularly because we got engaged at this house!  We've had a fabulous week here in Monterchi, visiting local wineries and meeting the very hospitable Italians.  The best times have been relaxing around Monterchi and enjoying the Italian life - especially the food!  Wish we were staying longer… but I'm sure we will be back.

14th - 21st August 2007, Yvonne, Olivier, Tiffany, Jessica, France

We've had an absolutely marvellous holiday in your beautiful house.  Coming home to this peaceful village after a busy day in a large city was wonderful.
We really enjoyed Siena, Florence, Castiglione del Lago, Perugia, Lucca - which we saw on the way here, but also just going for walks in the beautiful countryside.
We would have loved to stay another week, there's so much to see and do.  We feel we've just scratched the surface - we'll just have to come back.

4th - 11th August 2007, Lyuda, Gavin, Vicky and Laura

We've had a wonderful, most enjoyable holiday.  The only mistake we made is booking 1 week only - 2 weeks would have been just perfect.
Monterchi is a lovely place, very friendly people here.
The house is located in a historical part of the town - it's amazing to be part of the history (just for a short time), and especially funny being filmed by tourists exploring the place.
A useful tip for people arriving late on Saturday - most stores are closed on Sunday but the Iper-Coop in Arezzo is open ‘til late and is well signposted.

28th July - 4th August 2007, Steve, Karin and Nia, Pembrokeshire

Our first time in Eastern Tuscany and we certainly hope to return.  Lovely house and village and although on Piero della Francesco trail it feels so unspoilt.  So much to see nearby but also a good base to tour from.  Loved having a supply of books, including the cookery ones.  We made the porcini risotto from the G. Locatelli  book with products all sourced locally - you can't do that in Pembrokeshire!
Lasting memories of this house will be the quintessential Tuscan view from the bathroom window and the stunning painted ceilings.

21st - 28th July 2007, Ross and Rhona, Midlothian

We have had a wonderful week in your lovely house.  We enjoyed the Tuscan and Umbrian countryside, the ancient little villages, good food and wine.
Loved the Enoteca in the piazza and Madonna del Parto.

14th - 21st July, John, Jackie and Jane, Aberdeen

Great village with music in square in evenings, and ristorante nearby.  Library of books excellent, and kept us reading on the balcony.  Surrounding villages well worth a visit, especially Anghiari.

24th - 30th June 2007, Val and Ron, Kent

The perfect place to wind down and relax - a lovely house in a lovely spot.
Perhaps we should have made the effort to see more ‘sights' but we found the local pleasures and people were all we needed,
By the end of our stay we had almost adopted the “Italian” lifestyle… watering the plants, chatting falteringly to the neighbours (who were so friendly), enjoying the small shops, eating and drinking in the local restaurants.  We liked the Enoteca in the piazza and La Vecchia Osteria.

6th  - 13th 2007, Claire and Kevv, Cambridgeshire

We have just had the most wonderful and relaxing week here in Tuscany - Monterchi is and absolute delight - so peaceful and tranquil.
An ideal, central location for touring the area, although admittedly we did not travel too far afield  this time, having driven to Italy for the first (but not the last!) time.  The local area is fantastic in itself and we have enjoyed exploring the local area - in particular Sansepolcro, Anghiari and Caprese Michelangelo.
I am sure we will be returning.

What a marvellous place to spend a week in May, giving us the opportunity to continue the “Piero Trail” we started many years ago.

The biggest surprise was revisiting the nearby locanda Castello dei Sorci just round the corner on the way up to Anghiari.  Still ideal for the most typical of Tuscan lunches followed by an essential siesta.

We went for a lovely circular walk via the church of St Michael on a nearby hill top.
